❓Why do an armpit detox ❓
Wellllllll, what deodorant actually does is mask the smell of bacteria that comes from sweating. If you are still using an antiperspirant, the purpose of that is to reduce actual sweating. The armpits are the entry and exit point of the body, so things can get pretty smelly around there. 👃🏻
Did you know your armpits contain one of the highest concentrations of lymph nodes in the body! 💭 Armpit detoxes are designed to get rid of those nasty bacteria’s that have built up on your skin, and in the long run can eventually help reduce the capacity of your sweat glands and the amount of odor they produce.
There are many variables that play into why we smell “off” sometimes, for example: stress, poor diet, or having one too many glasses of wine once in a while! (🙋🏻♀️)
🌿If you’ve already switched over to a toxin free deodorant, then the detox process has already begun! 🌿
That’s the good news! The bad news is that your body may take time to adjust to your new deodorant…resulting in funky smells 😣
I will confess to you all that I am an armpit-detox-newbie 🤫 I have been meaning to do one for quite some time now, sooooo, I’ll be posting a video shortly of my first armpit detox for your viewing pleasure 💁🏻♀️
It should be super fun, and you will get to see my pits! #embarrassing But ya know, anything for the sake of the blog!
DIY armpit detox’s are actually super simple! You only need a few items:
✅ 1 TBSP Bentonite Clay
✅ 1 TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar
✅ 1-2 TBSP filtered water
Mix all of the ingredients with a NON METAL utensil until a paste forms.
⏰ If you’re a first timer (like me!), it’s suggested you only leave the mixture on for 5 minutes. The goal is to work your way up to 20 minutes after a few days. If you notice any skin irritations, do not continue. Your skin may become slightly red, but it should not be painful or anything.
Excess sweating is to be expected, and I know it’s hard but it’s best to avoid wearing deodorant throughout the detox process (which could take up to a few days 😬)
